Inspirit Foundation

About

The Inspirit Foundation is a national, grant-making organization that supports young people aged 18 to 30 in building a more inclusive and pluralist Canada. One way we do this is by supporting ways in which young people can increase their understanding of the plurality of spiritual, religious and secular beliefs in Canada.

About this Playlist

The Canadian documentaries in this playlist provide in-depth insight into important aspects of pluralism and diversity of beliefs. The stories address themes such as the central role of the Black Church in the quest for equality in Canada (Seeking Salvation), the politics and global economic agendas associated with the Taliban (Our Own Private Bin Laden), and the long-lasting impact of the Indian Residential Schools in Canada (Indian Road). We hope that these stories provide starting points for further learning and conversations that can help us better understand and find common bonds among the plurality of spiritual, religious and secular beliefs in our own communities.

If you are a teacher or work with young people, The Holier It Gets comes with an educational package that can help you frame discussions. The film follows three siblings who were raised with no formal religion and are left with their father’s surprising final request: to have his ashes taken to the Ganges River, considered one of the most holy places in Hinduism.
