NFB films have influenced the works of filmmakers around the world. Canada’s public film producer and distributor, the NFB creates audiovisual content that breaks new ground in form and content. Since its founding in 1939, the NFB has produced over 13,000 films and won over 5,000 awards.
About this Playlist
These specially selected titles represent the expansive NFB catalogue of uniquely Canadian documentaries. Featuring the work of such renowned directors as Denys Arcand, Stephen Low and Bill Mason, these stories provide insight into all aspects of Canadian culture including the inspiration behind Inuit sculpture, the environmental impact man has imposed upon the Great Lakes and our relationship with the English monarchy. Hot Docs is delighted to showcase these compelling works from the past five decades of Canadian documentary filmmaking.
